Norman Reedus can’t escape death.
“The Walking Dead” actor is set to star in famed game designer Hideo Kojima’s upcoming video game “Death Stranding.”
The trailer for the new game debuted at Sony’s E3 press conference on Monday, and in typical Kojima fashion, raised more questions than answers. It’s still unclear what platforms “Death Stranding” will be released on, though thanks to an earlier announced partnership between Kojima Productions and Sony, we know it will be a PS4 exclusive.
The trailer opened on Reedus naked and asleep on the beach next to a baby, with an umbilical cord connecting the two. He awakens and clutches the newborn in his arms only to find that the child has disappeared, leaving him alone and stranded on the beach surrounded by dead whales, crabs and other aquatic life.
Reedus’ casting doesn’t come as a surprise, however. Before leaving game company Konami, Kojima, the man behind the popular “Metal Gear Solid” series, was working on a horror game with Guillermo del Toro called “Silent Hills” that was set to star the “The Walking Dead” actor. This new game, under Kojima’s now-independent company Kojima Productions, could be a spiritual sibling to the now-shelved “Silent Hills.”
